"Jingle Bells" is one of the most famous American Christmas songs. This lively tune and festive lyrics were originally written by a minister named James Pierpoint for a Thanksgiving church program in 1857. The song was liked so much that it was repeated again at Christmas. The tune has been associated with Christmas ever since.

"Jingle Bells" was copyrighted under the title "One Horse Open Sleigh." When Pierpont's song was originally published in 1857, it had a slightly different chorus melody from the one we know today. It is unknown who replaced the chorus melody and the words that are sung today.

The essence of a traditional Christmas is captured in the lyrics of "Jingle Bells." The sound effects using the bells have become synonymous with the arrival of Father Christmas or Santa Claus to the delight of children of all ages.

Finding the lyrics for Christmas songs is fairly easy via the internet. There are many websites that post music sheets and the lyrics of many Christmas songs. You should be able to find the lyrics of your favorite Christmas songs, especially during the Christmas season. Just do a search by typing the name of the song in the search box. With the results you receive, you should be able to find a sight that lists the lyrics for any song you look for.

Many sites will even have a clip of the song for you to listen to. If you don't know the name of the song, you may be able to find the song using a phrase of the song. Some sites will even include the sheet music for Christmas songs chords.

Another source to use to find lyrics for Christmas songs is your local library. Using the library, you can find out more about the song, the meaning of the song, the origin, and the composer. For example, the song Silent Night was written by a gentleman in Austria who was preparing for a performance the next morning. He found the organ was broken, so he changed the lyrics and the music to allow it to be played on the guitar. The next day the choir sang the song and it was enjoyed by all. Since then the song has been sung worldwide in many languages. The internet does not always provide all that information.
